Will GTA 6 be on PS4 ?

Leaks suggest otherwise.

PlayStation 4 users may have doubts about the compatibility of GTA 6 with their consoles, but recent leaks have shed some light on the situation. Despite the significant player base of Grand Theft Auto 5 on the PS4, there are growing concerns about the ability of the older console to handle the next installment in Rockstar Games' popular franchise.

According to a report by Tom Henderson (X/@Tom_Henderson) from Insider Gaming, it appears that Rockstar Games might skip the previous generation of consoles, including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, when it comes to releasing GTA 6. Henderson suggested that the American gaming studio is focusing solely on launching the next Grand Theft Auto title for current-gen consoles.

Rockstar Games is likely to release GTA 6 on PlayStation 5 only.

In a detailed report published on March 7, 2023, titled "Is GTA 6 Releasing In 2024? Insider Suggests It’s Likely," Henderson highlighted a leak indicating that Rockstar Games will exclusively release the upcoming game on the latest generation of consoles. Although Henderson didn't explicitly mention PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, it's implied that the game will be tailored for current-generation consoles, with the PlayStation 5 currently being the latest generation console available.

According to Henderson's anonymous source, Rockstar Games delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, to ensure that the current-gen consoles have a sufficient player base to meet the studio’s sales targets. He also reported a tentative release date for 2024, originally planned back in 2021.

It's important to note that the next Untitled Grand Theft Auto game is anticipated to be one of the most ambitious titles to date. Rockstar Games is known for continuously improving its video games with each release, and fans expect nothing less from this upcoming iteration.

Leaked footage of leaked GTA 6 footage, which surfaced in September 2022, showcased significantly improved gameplay, even in its pre-alpha stage. Despite this early stage, the visuals appeared to surpass those of any other Rockstar Games project.

However, running such high-intensity gameplay smoothly necessitates robust hardware capabilities. The aging PlayStation 4 and its counterparts struggle to run GTA Online without encountering lags and performance issues. Consequently, numerous players have reportedly made the switch to the latest generation consoles to avoid such problems.

As a result, the Grand Theft Auto community has come to terms with the fact that the forthcoming game will not be available on the PlayStation 4. Nonetheless, they hold high hopes for Rockstar Games to deliver a polished product, free from any performance glitches or setbacks.
